Blogging Tip — Encourage a conversation

One of the common themes discussed when blogging comes up is “the conversation” which takes place. And its true. Done right, blogging for your business or professional service firm will cause a conversation to take place between you and your readers. There will also be a conversation between your readers too.

The biggest advantage and the best result you can hope for from encouraging these conversations is that you will build relationships with those you connect with by blogging. And these relationships will than turn into opportunities to sell your products and/or services.

In order for this to all happen, you have to encourage the conversations to take place.

  • First of all, you have to post to your blog. Don’t just post to post. Publish post about relevant topics and answer those questions being asked.
  • Second, allow comments on your blog. Moderate them of course, but allow them.
  • And third, you need to participate in the conversation yourself by commenting on your own blog and emailing commentators who come to your blog.
  • Be a pro-active blogger. Ask questions in your blog post. Ask for help and ask for your readers to provide their input. Encourage the conversation and start building relationships with your readers.
